If you’ve never had the chance to sip on some blueberry lemonade, it might be time to start. So sweet.
When the National Mall in Washington, D.C. was in dire need of renovation, a musical festival was proposed to generate funds for the project. We were excited about the opportunity to do the branding for the event.
Pluribus was the working name for the festival. It actually had a couple of working names throughout its evolution, not to mention a bunch of working logos, too. Here’s a sampling of some of the exploration we did for this project.
One of the great things about our job is that we get to listen to great live music all the time. Here are just a few of the many bands that have graced our stage with their presence.
So, a bunch of the guys decided it would be a necessary stress relief to get a car for the 2015 Spicewood Demolition Derby. But before you demolish a car, you gotta spruce it up a little, right? So we got a couple of cans of paint and went to town. This was, of course, after we put the saws and the sledgehammer away. You know, for bustin’ out windows and cuttin’ holes in hoods ’n such.
We also made some merch to promote the event, and to raise money for the Spicewood Volunteer Fire Department. You can get your hands on it here.
Also, check out a few pics from the event at our blog.
Our 2016 SXSW bash was downright explosive, and plenty of folks ended up getting pretty lit, too. Rock out. Go boom.
We get a lot of visitors to our fair city, for various music festivals and the like. So we decided to put together a guide for the out-of-towners. These spot illustrations are featured in the guide, which directs you to the best taco joints, armadillo hangouts, etc.
The AFPL is an extensive GSD&M endeavor designed to aid the Air Force in recruiting the brightest minds of the next generation. This mobile experience puts potential recruits through a range of physical and mental challenges to see if they have what it takes for a career in the Air Force. It features an Oculus Rift-based VR flight simulator game, a Kinect-based pull-up challenge, cognitive tests on 42-inch touchscreens, and an iPad-based career wall.
In 1972, a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn’t commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a design problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them....maybe you can hire 828.
We explored a range of looks for a local barber, trying to get to a classic modern feel. Which one would you pick, if you were Luis?
We packed a helluvalot of good music into GSD&M’s SXSW 2015 party. Four awesome bands and hundreds of good friends. Can’t wait until next year.
We love doing work for the Austin Parks Foundation. They always give us a lot of creative freedom. Plus, they’re a pretty great non-profit. They help maintain those pretty places where you can run around in the sunshine.
Speaking of places to frolic in the sun, our beloved Zilker Park recently celebrated its centennial. And what do you get a park for its 100th birthday? Logo options.
70 plus years ago, Clyde May was your typical moonshiner, making atypical Alabama whiskey. His efforts cost him 8 months in the federal pen, but his whiskey was a hit. We hope you enjoy our redesign of his bottle. It’s 100% on the up-and-up.
Sibling is a full-service advertising agency with a specialty in multicultural marketing. They’re kind of like our sister company, except we never squabble. We helped them develop their brand identity.
Shown here are the finalized branding elements, along with a few other options we were tinkering with.
How do you make a turkey look really sexy? That was one of the challenges presented to us with this redesign. Let us know how we did.
Promotions for the Golden Gloves, Austin’s finest amateur boxing tournament (although there’s nothing amateur about getting punched in the face).
And we couldn’t resist — the 2015 poster was printed on gold metallic paper. We went split-fountain in 2016, but then back to gold ink in 2017.
It’s Austin’s septaquintaquinquecentennial! Try saying that 175 times really fast. Let’s celebrate with a rad new logo and tshirts!
We dove pretty deep with this logo exploration and came up with tons of iterations. It was worth the effort. If any city is deep in the heart of Texas, it’s Austin. Geographically. Politically. Emotionally. We love our town, and we love when we get to design for it.
What exactly is Talon? Is it a highly classified task force? An elite training division? Or just a cool logo? We’d tell you, but then we’d have to kill you.
There’s no better way to celebrate 20 years of existence than with gold letterpress. Trust us. These invitations were sent out to the GSD&M Chicago office. So, sadly, they didn’t show up in our mailbox. We still got to fondle them a bit, though.
There are bees on our roof. Seriously.
But it’s okay, ’cause we put them up there. To give them a safe home. Saving the world and all...one bee at a time.
Plus, they give us honey. And we had a bunch of it, so we gave it out as a Christmas present. If you didn’t get any, we'll try and get you on the list for next year.
Work here for a year and you get a gift card to TacoDeli, enclosed in a taco-themed card. Work here for two years and you get a coffee gift card to Jo’s, with a card to match. Work here three years, and it’s ice cream. And so on...and so on.
